Organisation of local study visits.

Brief information on the project:

VTG SYNERGY has been commissioned by the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) to support the "Strong Businesses and Communities for Moldova" (SBC) project. Funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the European Union, and the Swiss Government, this initiative focuses on enhancing public service delivery across Moldova.

Objectives:

The SBC project aims to:

  • Improve Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS): Enhance services for nine local public authorities (LPAs), ensuring reliable access to clean water and sanitation facilities.
  • Enhance Solid Waste Management (SWM): Develop efficient waste management systems for four LPAs, promoting environmental sustainability and public health.
  • Strengthen LPA Capacities: Build the capacity of LPAs in Straseni, Edinet, and Leova districts to implement intercommunity service delivery models, fostering collaboration and resource sharing.

Our involvement:

As part of the project, VTG SYNERGY is organizing two local study visits for partner LPAs and service operators. These visits aim to expose participants to successful practices and lessons learned in the delivery of public services related to WSS and SWM.

  1. Study Visits: Participants will visit communities that have achieved high levels of service provision, where local authorities have successfully attracted investments and maintained continuous service improvement. These visits will offer insights into:
    • Innovative technologies and management strategies for service delivery.
    • Solutions to common challenges faced by public service providers.
    • Networking opportunities with peers and professionals in the field.

  2. Conducting Training for Public Service Operators and Public Servants: These sessions will provide capacity-building opportunities for stakeholders involved in WSS and SWM service provision. Some examples of training topics that we will deliver within this contract: legal framework; regional cooperation; delegation contract; intermunicipal cooperation; regulatory compliance and safety; environment and climate change concepts; environmental sustainability, waste collection and transportation; waste sorting and recycling; waste treatment and disposal; community engagement and public awareness; innovative technologies and practices.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Adoption of Best Practices:Participants will gain valuable knowledge on effective public service management techniques.
  • Performance Improvement:By benchmarking against successful counterparts, LPAs can set realistic targets for enhancing service quality.
  • Enhanced Collaboration:The project encourages cooperation among LPAs, civil society organizations, and service providers, paving the way for future partnerships and initiatives.
  • Inspiration and Motivation:Exposure to successful projects will inspire participants, highlighting the potential impact of their efforts on community quality of life.
